Laser projector installation requirements
Before installation, prepare the room, power supply, network, and a workshop computer. Below is a summary of the requirements from this section. Detailed steps and diagrams are in the linked articles.
Which questions does this article answer?
What is the minimum ceiling height in the workshop?
How should the projector be powered and protected from HFC-machine interference?
Which Wi‑Fi and local network are required?
What must be installed on the workshop computer?
Installation and calibration are done by a specialist with EasyCeiling mounting experience: the warranty on stable operation depends on this. See Laser projector calibration and the supervised installation service.
Height and location
The minimum height from the table surface to the ceiling is 2 metres.
The projection size depends on how far to the side of the table the projector is placed. To calculate the projection area, send a drawing of the workshop with dimensions, as in the example:
How to choose the location: Laser projector setup, video “Selecting where to install the projector”.
Place the projector as far as possible from HFC machines. A location next to a machine can disable the projector immediately. Details: Electrical and noise protection of the projector.
Mounting
A mounting insert is required. The size of the second rectangle depends on the material thickness. Do not make the inserts yourself: order a precise cut from a furniture workshop.
Dimensions and the video are in Laser projector setup, item “Projector mounting bracket”.
Table and projection zone
Before calibration, mark the table: choose the illumination zone taking dead zones into account, divide it into sectors, and set control points.
The grid size must be a multiple of 2.
Video and notes: Laser projector setup, item “Marking the table for calibrating the projector”.
Power supply
The full protection scheme, filters, and photos are in Electrical and noise protection of the projector. In short:
Separate the projector power supply as much as possible from the line that feeds the HFC machines.
A separate line from the input circuit breaker is desirable, not crossing other lines, in a metal cable corrugation.
Run the power line as far as possible from the HFC machines.
Earth is mandatory: either through a socket or a separate line to the chassis. Do not use both methods at once.
An inverter voltage stabilizer from 100 W is required (not a relay stabilizer). Example: Shtil InStab IS350.
An uninterruptible power supply does not protect the projector.
Power connection mistakes can quickly disable the projector.
Network
The workshop needs a Wi‑Fi router for the projector. The computer and the router must be on the same company local network. EasyCeiling on the computer must be connected to the MS SQL network database.
How to organize the network: Laser projector setup, item “Computer and network preparation”.
Wi‑Fi parameters
The projector works only on 2.4 GHz. It does not support 5 GHz networks.
Encryption is WPA2. The projector does not support WPA3.
The network name (SSID) and password must be in Latin letters. Cyrillic and other non-Latin characters will not connect.
Recommended access point: SSID ECLaser, password gjr489vnjg. Set the router administrator login and password to the same values.
Place the router 2–5 metres from the projector, away from metal and machines. The DHCP server must stay available; reserve the projector IP address.
Step-by-step writing of the network into the projector: Wi‑Fi setup on the projector.
If the link drops: Why the projector may lose the Wi‑Fi connection. The blue LED shows Wi‑Fi state: LED indication on the projector.
Workshop computer
Operating system: Windows 10 or newer.
EasyCeiling is installed and connected to the company database.
Laser Helper needs Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (x86).
Software installation: EasyCeiling LaserHelper installation and preliminary setup.
To avoid typing ceiling numbers by hand, enable barcode generation in EasyCeiling.
