Creating a new clean database

If your database in the EasyCeiling program has become too large, started working slowly, or you just need to start working from scratch, while saving all the important data, this article is for you. In it, we'll look at how to easily and quickly create a new and clean local MS Access database.

Creating a new clean database

Step 1: Data Export

Before doing anything with your database, you need to download all the necessary directories and settings from the current database, as shown in this article.

Save the received files to a safe place on your computer - they will be useful to us later. After that, the program can be closed.

Step 2: Backup the old database

Now you need to find the physical database file and create a copy of it so that you can always return to it and view the data you are interested in.

  1. Go to the EasyCeiling settings and see where the database file is stored.

    Default path

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\EasyCeiling

    My computer\Local disk (C:)\Users\Common\General documents\EasyCeiling

  2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to your database.

  3. In this folder you will find a database file named DataBase.mdb - this is your database.

Pay attention to its size. The maximum size for such a database is 2 GB. If your file is close to this value, database replacement is especially necessary.

  4. Move the DataBase.mdb file from the folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\EasyCeiling inside the newly created folder. We won't need it anymore now, but it may be useful to you in the future if you want to look into your old database.

Step 3: Create a new and empty database

Now let's replace the old database with a clean one.

  1. Navigate to the root folder with the installed program.

    Default path

    C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyCeiling

    ИЛИ

    Мой компьютер\Локальный диск (C:)\Program Files (x86)\EasyCeiling

  2. Find the clean DataBase.mdb file in this folder.

  3. Copy this file and paste it into the same folder from Step 2.

Please note that the file must be named DataBase.mdb.

Step 4: Updating the database structure

The new database needs to be updated to fit the current version of the program.

  1. Run the file from the root folder with the program Update.exe .

    Default path

    C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyCeiling

    ИЛИ

    Мой компьютер\Локальный диск (C:)\Program Files (x86)\EasyCeiling

  2. Wait for the process to complete.

The program will offer to launch EasyCeiling — agree.

After launching, you will see a program with a completely empty database.

Step 5: Data Import

The final step is to return all your directories to the new database.

Sequentially import all the files that you exported in Step 1 in the same way as shown in the instructions.

How do I go back to the old database?

If you need to temporarily switch back to the old database:

  1. Open the EasyCeiling program.

  2. Go to the settings on the "Database" tab

  3. Where the path to your database is indicated, change the folder to the one where you have the old database.

  4. Restart the program.

To start using the new database again, simply repeat the steps above, but specify the default folder.

Default path

C:\Users\Public\Documents\EasyCeiling

ИЛИ

Мой компьютер\Локальный диск (C:)\Пользователи\Общие\Общие документы\EasyCeiling
