Database Maintenance Recommendations
⚠️ Importance of Data Protection
According to statistics, every company operating for more than three years has experienced data loss at least once. The main causes are hardware failures, viruses, or hacker attacks. To minimize risks:
Install a paid antivirus.
Set up automatic backup.
EasyCeiling has an additional module for backing up settings and databases that solves this task.
You can also outsource the security of your database and the information stored in it to us by simply switching to EasyCeiling's cloud database solution. This solution relieves the user of the responsibility of managing, maintaining and ensuring stable operation of databases.
With a cloud database, you get guaranteed access to data, system stability, and EasyCeiling takes care of all concerns about database performance, backup and availability. This is the ideal choice for those who want to focus on their core business, putting the management of their technical infrastructure in safe hands.
🗓 Database Maintenance and Optimization
Create a new database once a year — this improves performance and reduces the likelihood of errors due to "clutter".
Perform preventive maintenance of the database every six months. It's better to prevent possible problems than to face them at an inconvenient time.
⚙️ Reducing Database Load
If the database load is high, with many users and orders, you can disable some features and optimize order display to increase performance.
Disabling Ceiling Thumbnail Storage (Network MS SQL Server Database)
On the "Order Information" tab, you can disable the display of detailed ceiling thumbnails.
🔹 This will reduce the database load — images won't be saved in the database itself, and interface loading will speed up. To do this, in the settings on the "Data" tab, set the parameter "Do not save ceiling thumbnails". The program will offer to delete thumbnails - agree. The thumbnail cleanup process may take some time.Disabling Order History (Network MS SQL Server Database)
If necessary, you can disable the order change history storage feature.
🔹 This will reduce the volume of records and simplify the database structure, which is especially relevant with a large number of orders. To do this, in the settings on the "Data" tab, disable the parameter "Store ceiling change history".Archiving Completed Orders
Orders that don't require regular access should be moved to the archive.
🔹 This doesn't delete orders — they remain available when needed, but are excluded from daily display, which reduces the load on the interface and database. To do this, on the order information tab, click on the dropdown list under the "Archive" button, then add a range of orders to the archive in a convenient way. You can retrieve orders from the archive when needed. If these actions don't bring the desired result, contact technical support. Your database may need preventive maintenance.
